My Latest Letter to the Editor

I just get tired of those guys who seem to hang out on the newspaper's website, and comment on everything...EVERYTHING!

"Please, go on-line and peruse the comments that appear after each J & C article.  On some days, they are funnier than the comics; on most, they are as frustrating as trying to potty train.
The recent batch of “best” are from white men, who appear to be, un-ironically, the “deciders” about what is a “hate crime”.  They, who walk in society with such privilege that they don’t even know it.  White men, who never have to think before they exit their home:  “Will I be safe?”  They, who can walk without being heckled, harassed, or worse.  White guys who walk into a room with invisibility—they never have to notice they are different, and being treated as such, because they are always the “normal”.
These men, and their ancestors, who have fought and conquered native populations throughout the world, have written the history books we all read and “have” to believe, who have set the “right” way of thinking—they have the audacity to be offended when someone suggests a different way of thinking, of calling it a “hate crime” when it really is.
If you feel defensive while reading this letter, good!  It means I’ve hit a nerve, have forced you to think instead of walking through life without awareness.
By far the best giggle from the on-line comments has been from those who accuse the protesters at Purdue of being “Marxists”!  For those protesting at Purdue must be the minions of another white guy.  Geez."
