Indiana, the Saudi Arabia of Wind Energy

Karen and I took a trip today, to Benton County, to see the wind turbines. These massive structures are truly indescribable. You can see them far across the horizon, in every direction, moving silently in the wind.

It's not until you get up close that you can hear them. Karen was far braver than I, and actually inspected the outside of one.

I thought they sounded crickets chirping, but Karen said they sounded like airplanes whooshing by. Very unobtrusive, in any case.

These photos don't capture the majesty of these man-made structures, but suffice to say that I felt a stirring of hope for the future of our planet--maybe we can save ourselves!
